How often do you bake the croissants?
We bake them from scratch using traditional French techniques on the premises fresh everyday.
What is in the Almond Croissant?
The almond croissant is a regular croissant filled and topped with an almond cream rolled in sliced almonds and then baked.
What is in the Spinach Croissant?
The spinach croissant contains sautéed spinach and Swiss cheese.
What is red velvet cake?
Red Velvet cake is similar to a mix of chocolate and vanilla cake combined, usually paired with cream cheese frosting. We use the most traditional approach is by combining buttermilk with white vinegar and baking soda which reacts with the cocoa powder to give it a reddish tint, however red food coloring is the only way to give it the dramatic red velvet effect.
What is a French Macaron?
A traditional French meringue cookie which is made with egg whites, almond flour and powdered sugar, it is then baked to create a light puffy but crunchy dome-like shape. It should be crunchy on the outside but soft and chewy in the inside. They are sandwiched and filled with assorted frostings and fillings. All the ones we offer are gluten free. What is 'Ganache'?
Used as a filling or frosting. It is made by combining chocolate with cream, to make a creamy rich consistency.
What is 'Meringue'?
It is a combination of whipped egg whites with sugar, giving a very light airy texture. There are many different kinds of meringue depending on how stable you want it, toasting it gives a great taste and look.
What is a ‘Napoleon’?
A flaky rectangular pastry made with layered puff pastry and a light vanilla custard filling.
What is a Cake Pop?
It is a mixture of baked cake and frosting, mixed together, rolled in a ball, then dipped in chocolate.
What is the filling inside the Éclairs?
They are filled with a vanilla pastry cream (custard), the Espresso Éclairs are filled with a coffee flavored custard
How do I store my cupcakes if I’m not going to eat them immediately?
It is important to keep your cupcakes at room temperature. Do not refrigerate them as this will dry out the cake. To preserve freshness if not planning to eat right away, cover the bakery box in plastic wrap.
Do we offer special order cakes and custom cakes?
Yes! We can customize to any theme, color and décor for special occasions, corporate gifts, or weddings. Please have the customer speak directly to one of our pastry kitchen employees when placing their order or to answer any questions.
How much notice is needed for custom orders?
2-3 days at least! Depending on the size and labor involved our staff will need plenty of lead time to execute each custom order. For specific questions ask or call Stephanie.
How do I price out a custom cake order?
Always get someone from the pastry kitchen staff to assist in pricing and placing the order. Use the cake order form (provided by the register) to help answer any pricing questions.
What about allergies?
Le Pain Du Jour offers gluten freeand nut free dessert items. However, we bake with flour, dairy, sugar, and nuts on the premises, so we DO NOT recommended for those with severe allergies to these ingredients.
All of our tarts DO CONTAIN NUTS! Our tart dough is made with almond flour.
What is Gluten Free?
Gluten is a protein found in wheat, so all items containing flour HAVE gluten in them. A gluten-free diet is the only medically accepted treatment for celiac disease some people choose to be gluten free for diet reasons as well. A gluten-free diet may exclude oats.
Do we offer any Gluten Free items?
Yes we do! ALL of our French Macarons are gluten free and we also offer a GF chocolate cupcake.
Do we offer any Dairy Free items?
No we do not offer any dairy free items: dairy includes anything containing: Butter, milk, buttermilk, heavy cream, cream cheese, sour cream.
Do we offer any Vegan dessert items?
No we do not offer any vegan desserts: A vegan is a person who does not eat or use animal products such as eggs, all dairy, and all meat.
